Welcome to CPAN Journal of Ceramics
CPAN Journal of Ceramics is published in the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. First issued in November 2004, preceded by the Ceramic Voice Newsletter, it is a peer-reviewed publication of the Craft Potters Association of Nigeria, a professional organization initiated in 1996 by the Ceramic Voice Working Party (Joy Voisey, Tony Ogogo, Margaret Mama and Ben Drew). CPAN represents potters and clay artists in Nigeria with membership drawn from a wide range of backgrounds – studio potters, potteries, sculptors, researchers, teachers, lecturers and practitioners in related fields.
The CPAN Journal of Ceramics publishes research articles, reviews, field notes, interviews and portfolios and seeks to give both energy and voice to African ceramics which has suffered for so long from lack of viable and sustained intellectual and social platforms within Africa for sharing research results and technical information necessary for its growth. The journal also provides a forum for a scholarly engagement with the history and criticism of ceramics practice in Africa and elsewhere.
This journal is open-access. All materials are available for free downloading through a simple registration process. Hard copies are also available on request.
